about

JAMES: I remember being very excited recording this song as I got to play a 12-string guitar. We recorded Sun Dream in the same studio in Southend where had made The Echotone EP (more on that later) and we were overall a bit more comfortable in a studio setting. Lee had also bought a digital eight-track machine and we’d done some demos of these songs before going in (you can get these as bonus tracks if you download the full EP) which made it all less nervy. I got to play some keyboards too, which was a first.

lyrics

Rising in the distance
Melting my resistance
Takes its time to rise and start my day
It’s bathing everyone
Reach up and touch the sun
Wonder at the power
Secret mother nature

Walking with a skip
The day has got its grip
Smothered by its warmth
You hear the people say
Children running round
Chests out feeling proud
Jumping skipping running
Shouting very loud

(Sun dream)
Busy bees surround the smell
Looking to feed the kids
(Sun dream)
Butterflies flap their wings
Watching for hatching cribs
For me it’s the thing I like to see
It’s that perfect time for another sun dream

Fancy a glass of juice
Laid out under the spruce
Talking to a friend feels like
It’s been some years
Glinting in my eye, wanting me to cry
Hardened by her glare
I stare right through
