about

This right here is the first song I ever wrote. It wears its influences pretty much on its sleeve, but I remember being delighted to at least finish it, back in the dim and misty past of 2002. The start of a long journey with a lot of songs marking out the milestones along the way. You can very faintly hear my dearly departed mum calling up the stairs at the end of the track. Gave me a funny turn to hear her on the tape.

lyrics

I feel the time rolling by
I feel the years pass with a sigh
Show me a river and I’ll sail away
While my body grows old my mind can play

Life goes on but the world will never change
A million lies they’re all racing through my brain
I wave goodbye as you step aboard your train
And we wonder why the years roll by
But some hurts they refuse to die
And life goes on but the world will never change
Never change, never change

I feel the time rolling by
I feel the years pass like a sigh

Show me a mountain and I’ll climb away
While my body grows old my mind can play
