It Doesn't Get Any Better Than This

about

JAMES: One of the earliest tunes we ever worked on. The opening track on our first ever EP and at the opening song at our first ever gig — before we were even Echotone, we were just introduced as “James and Lee” — and also every other gig we played in the early days. There was some debate at the time as to whether this should even be the title of the first release — we went with The Echotone EP in the end, which I think I argued against at the time and now think was the absolute right call.

lyrics

You found a window into my soul
I tried to help you, tried to let you know
What hides behind all those half-closed doors
Those hidden secrets that are mine not yours

The dreams we have they may fade away
I fight for each and every word I say
I hope one day you will understand
Just what it is you’re holding in your hands

It doesn’t get any better than this
Like when you’ve found something
Lost that you’ve missed
When you’d give it all away for one more kiss
It doesn’t get any better than this

I’ve found a window into your mind
Those inner places that you keep inside
And what you gave to me I cannot say
‘Cause you’re too beautiful in every way

It doesn’t get any better than this
Like when you’ve found something
Lost that you’ve missed
When you’d give it all away for one more kiss
It doesn’t get any better than this

It doesn’t get any better than this
Like when you’ve found something
Lost that you’ve missed
When you’d give it all away for one more kiss
It doesn’t get any better than this
Better than this
Better than this
